Matt Cimino
Coach Cimino is a basketball coach with experience across professional, high school, and grassroots levels. A Maine native and former Division I player, Cimino has built a coaching identity rooted in player development, and building a culture of toughness, trust, and daily improvement.
The past 4 years, Cimino served as the varsity assistant and JV head coach at Falmouth High School. Cimino helped the program to three Class A South Regional titles and a 2024–2025 Maine Class A State Championship. His JV teams posted a combined 68–4 record over four seasons.
Before transitioning into coaching, Cimino had a long playing career. He was a captain at American University, but began his college career at George Washington, where he contributed to a 50–22 record and a 2016 NIT championship. Prior to that, he was a nationally ranked high school player at Worcester Academy, earning multiple Division I offers and being nominated as a McDonald’s All-American.
During his high school career, Cimino was selected for, and competed in several nationally recognized camps and showcases, including the Nike Top 100 Camp and Adidas Nations, experiences that exposed him to elite competition and helped shape his approach to high-level player development.
Before Worcester Academy, Cimino spent two years at Cheverus High School under legendary Maine Hall of Fame coach Bob Brown. During his time there, Cheverus won the 2010 Class A State Championship and were state runners-up in 2011, compiling a combined record of 42–2. Those formative years, under Coach Brown’s guidance, laid the foundation for Cimino’s understanding of team culture, preparation, and winning basketball.
Off the court, Cimino is committed to mentorship and long-term player development. He has coached in AAU programs, worked in education, and is now helping impact Maine basketball year-round.
