Ryan Martin is one of the most decorated basketball players to ever come out of the state of Maine. A two-time state champion at Maranacook High School (2006, 2008), he was named both Mr. Maine Basketball and the Gatorade Player of the Year in 2008.
He went on to play college basketball on scholarship at the University of Maine and later at Keene State College, where he made a national name for himself as an elite shooter. Ryan led the entire country in free throw percentage two consecutive years—hitting an astonishing 97% and 96%, respectively—and ranked top five nationally in three-point shooting at 49% and 47%. In 2012, he was named an All-American and the New Hampshire College Player of the Year.
Following college, Ryan was selected 19th overall in the 2013 NBL Canada Draft by the Prince Edward Island Storm, where he played professionally for three seasons.
After retiring from pro basketball, Ryan returned to Maine, where he has served as a high school basketball coach and educator for the past nine years.
In 2024, Ryan etched his name into history again—this time breaking three official Guinness World Records:
•Most NBA-range 3-pointers made in 1 hour (1,086)
•Most total 3-pointers made in 1 hour (1,372)
•Most free throws made in 1 hour (2,494)
Today, Ryan travels the country sharing his shooting expertise through camps and clinics, and he is actively pursuing his dream of becoming a professional-level shooting coach. For now, he brings his world-class skills to BlueWave Basketball, where he’ll be hosting clinics, training, and helping the next generation of players become elite shooters.
